The Norwegian-British-Swedish Antarctic Expedition 1949-52
Narrated by Dr. Charles Swithinbank
Charles Swithinbank began his long and illustrious career in Antarctica on this expedtion. He was the youngest member of the first truly international expedition to The Ice. In addition to a successful scientific program and exploration of previously unknown territory, three deaths, a dramatic rescue and a surgery performed by an inexperienced doctor with the assistance of untrained expedition members highlighted this historic undertaking. Dr. Swithinbank describes it in his own words.
